D. Answer the following the questions in brief.
1.What will happen if the xylem tissue gets damaged in a branch of a tree?
Answer-Since xylem is the channel through which water and minerals are transported to different parts of a plant, damaged xylem in a branch would mean that branch shall not get proper supply of water and minerals. Lack of water and minerals will result in no photosynthesis in leaves of plants of they branch. As a result, that branch shall not be able to get nutrition and would die in the long run.
2. Define transpiration.
Answer-Loss of water vapour through stomata and lenticels in plants is called transpiration.
3.Name the three types of blood vessels.
Answer-Three types of blood vessels are :-arteries, veins and capillaries.

Answer-Transportation of water and minerals in plants happen in following steps:-
•Plants obtain water and minerals from soil.
•Roots absorb water and minerals through root hairs.
•The absorbed water and minerals are transported to other parts of plant through xylem.
2.Describe , in brief the function of heart.
Answer-Functions of heart are:-
•Heart pumps blood to different parts of body.
•On contraction hearts squeeze the blood through the atria and then through the ventricles.
•When oxygen -deficient blood comes, the heart pumps it to the lungs.
3.State the function of three types of blood vessels.
Answer-Three types of blood vessels are-
•Arteries-Carry blood from heart to different organs.
•Veins-Carry blood from different organs to heart
